About the Event
AmateurPianists is pleased to announce the pianists and pieces that will be performed on August 14, 2021.
The selection of pieces was made by Seymour Bernstein, based on 3 pieces submitted by each pianist.
Barbara Azevedo: Schubert, Impromptu, Op. 142, No.3 (no repeats)
Brianna Christopher: Mendelssohn, Rondo Capriccioso
John Gutheil: Chopin, Waltz in C-sharp minor
Diana Gao: Chopin, Ballade in A-flat
The 4 pianists will play through their pieces as in a recital first. This certainly promises to be a fabulous experience of music and learning!

This is our must-not-miss event of 2021 and it is free to attendees!
Seymour Bernstein, renowned concert pianist turned music educator, will be holding a masterclass for AmateurPianists from his studio in New York City!
Seymour is an American legend, having achieved fame early in life as a concert pianist and winning many awards.
Born in New Jersey, he later realized that he has a mission - a desire to bring music's message to a wider audience. His concertizing career took him to Asia, Europe, North America, and South America and he found every opportunity to offer lectures and masterclasses wherever he could.
His vast experience as a pianist and in working with pianists has brought him tremendous knowledge and a deep understanding of the challenges that beset the musician both professional and amateur.
He has also composed numerous piano works along with teaching classes at prestigious music schools and holding private lessons. His working principles and a glimpse of his life have been captured in the documentary by Ethan Hawke called "Seymour: An Introduction" and his seminal book, "With Your Own Two Hands, Self-Discovery Through Music". Both are excellent and definitely worth investing time in; we strongly recommend them as a prelude to the masterclass on August 14. Read more about him on www.seymourbernstein.com.
We have 4 advanced pianists who will be the "students" for this session which will be much longer than our usual 1-1/2 hours; we expect it to last about 3 hours. Seymour has asked for certain requirements of the "students" and this will be an absolutely incredible learning experience for all of us, the audience and "students"! Mark this on your calendar and register to attend! A golden opportunity to learn about piano playing and possibly, insights into humanity and human behavior.
Links will be sent to those who register for this event. Thank you.
