About the Event
Participating in a piano competition can be considered anything from a worthy goal to a pianist's worst nightmare. Most pianists can place themselves somewhere on this continuum.
AmateurPianists is pleased to announce our first-ever virtual event, showcasing John Gutheil, a longtime AmateurPianists member, who has competed in both the 2016 and 2019 AmateurPianists’ International Piano Competition for Outstanding Amateurs, as well as the Cliburn Amateur Competition and a few others. He will share his journey in preparing for a competition, his practice schedules, expectations and perhaps most importantly, understanding why he chose to do this on top of a busy day job running a biotech company.
He will also share a few pieces from his competition videos and will answer questions in real time.
Join us on Sunday, May 31 at 3pm by clicking on this link: https://bit.ly/AmateurPianists.
It will be webcast from our YouTube channel and will be free for all to watch. No password required, nothing to download!
Thank you and stay healthy,
Lulu Hsu Chair,
